PRESCHOOL 4’S PROGRAM

The Preschool Fours program is a preschool option for children the year before they enter Early Fives or all-day Kindergarten. Students in Preschool Fours must turn four by September 30th of the current school year.

In our Preschool 4’s Program students will:

  • Learn about life through very basic religious instruction
  • Learn to work and socialize in a classroom environment
  • Improve large and fine motor skills
  • Develop listening skills
  • Experience learning situations that will allow them to experiment and stimulate their creativity
  • Establish a positive foundation for academic learning

Religion is the foundation of our curriculum and invites children to experience the love of God through family, friends, self, and the world. Children will learn simple Bible verses, traditional Bible stories, and recite daily prayers to reinforce our goal of walking in the footsteps of Jesus.

Language Arts is a completely integrated curriculum that offers a solid foundation for teaching and reinforcing pre-reading skills required as a preparation for Kindergarten.

English skills covered include parts of speech, subjects, predicates, complete sentences, run-on sentences, and punctuation.

Children learn basic math concepts taught using a variety of manipulatives, games, and centers.

Students will be introduced through a variety of simple topics related to the weather, safety, seeds/plants, personal hygiene, and the five senses.

Students’ study will focus on the seasons and applicable holidays and events.

Art experiences enhance/enrich daily themes and units of study. A variety of art supplies will be used to encourage originality and individual creativity with the intent to develop and strengthen fine motor skills. Physical Education Early Fives and Preschool Fours classes are 30 minutes long and are taught by the P.E. teachers. SPANISH The Early Fives have foreign language once per week for 30 minutes. MUSIC is ongoing in the classroom.  Both E5 and P4 have a 30-minute class with the music teacher each week. TECHNOLOGY is incorporated into the Early Fives curriculum through once-a-week visits to the computer lab. LIBRARY skills in E5 and P4 are introduced and reinforced with weekly visits to the library. During library time the children enjoy being read to and experience the joy of checking out a book to take home and share with their family.

RECESS AND SNACK is included in the daily schedule. We stress the importance of sending a nutritious/healthy snack with your child.
